Dahua Video Doorbell Intercom Access System for Single-Family Home or Office

The Dahua Video Intercom for single-family homes or office suites is an economical and effective solution. Here are the available options for single-family or office suites: DHI-VTO2000A (IP54, wired IP, stainless steel) DHI-VTO2000A-2 (IP54, 2-wire, stainless steel) DHI-VTO2111D-WP (IP65, Wireless IP, plastic, built-in MiFare card reader) You would still need to connect the power supply for the wireless option. Flush-mount and surface-mount back-boxes are available for wired solutions. The mobile apps (for iOS and Android) are compatible with the Villa Outdoor Stations; not with the Apartment Outdoor Stations. Mobile apps allow the tenant(s) to remotely unlock the door from anywhere with 3G/4G/Wi-Fi signal on their mobile device. The intercom will ring the indoor monitors and mobile apps simultaneously so that the first available user can address the caller and decide whether to grant access. The indoor monitors are not required, but they are ideal if a dedicated indoor monitor is desired in a common area such as a home’s kitchen or an office’s reception area. The current indoor monitor options are: DHI-VTH1550CH (IP monitor, 7 inch, white) DHI-VTH1550CHW-2 (2-wire monitor, 7 inch, white, ideal if running cable within the units is difficult) DHI-VTH5221D (wireless IP monitor, 7 inch, black, ideal if there is a solid Wi-Fi […]

Dahua Video Doorbell Intercom Access System for Multi-Tenant/Unit Apartment Buildings

For a multi-tenant building such as this, you could go with one of three options for Dahua: DHI-VTO1210C-X (IP54 stainless steel, more ideal for higher-vandal areas, providing there is some kind of protection from the elements (such as a covered area): rain, snow, etc.) DHI-VTO1220BW (IP65 white tempered glass, built-in MiFare card reader for access control, less ideal for higher-vandal areas) DHI-VTO1210B-X (IP65 black tempered glass, built-in MiFare card reader for access control, less ideal for higher-vandal areas) The good thing about Dahua is it’s low-cost. The bad thing is that for the three multi-unit intercom systems mentioned above, there are no mobile apps. This means each tenant who wants to be able to grant entry would need to purchase one (or more) indoor monitors. The current indoor monitor options are: DHI-VTH1550CH (IP monitor, 7 inch, white) DHI-VTH1550CHW-2 (2-wire monitor, 7 inch, white, ideal if running cable within the units is difficult) DHI-VTH5221D (wireless IP monitor, 7 inch, black, ideal if there is a solid Wi-Fi signal throughout the units. Would still require power.) DHI-VTH1660CH (IP monitor, 10 inch, black) If you want a solution with mobile app support, then please scroll all the way down to Update from December 2020. The […]

Intercom Security Camera Workaround for Access Control using Milestone XProtect

Option 1) Here is a PDF for an option that is similar to an Aiphone door intercom. Neither are compatible with Milestone XProtect, but I know Aiphone is the standard in the industry and carries a higher price tag. And the Comelit (Italian company, has an office in So Cal, good support) was recommended to me by a good installer. Their unit has an analog video output, which can connect to an encoder, which can then connect to Milestone XProtect. It has a relay built-in, which would connect to a door strike. The Comelit unit provides up to 1A of power for the door strike. The IP version of the Comelit cannot be used because it is not Onvif compliant. Option 2) Use a camera with 2-way audio support and alarm I/Os, and ensure audio compatibility with Milestone XProtect Professional or higher in order to use Milestone events/outputs. In the XProtect SmartClient, you would create the I/O event, then drag in an Overlay Button so they can lock/unlock the door after seeing/talking to the person. (This would only be available on a Windows PC.) You could trigger the output from the Web Client or Milestone Mobile though if you want to […]
