Imlek is upgrading from DVR to Milestone IP video surveillance to improve the production control
The Challenge
As a dairy company, the main challenges for Imlek have been production control,
workplace safety and general security. Imlek buys milk from several thousand
farmers in Serbia and offers more than 80 different dairy products on daily basis.
Over the years, the company has faced some loss related issues in storage and
produc-tion areas. Workplace safety is also an important focus for the company.
The major concerns were accidents at Imlek mainly caused by forklifts and truck
drivers.
The Advantages
With Milestone’s analytic tools it is much easier to pinpoint time and place of the
accident. Therefore, it is possible to track down the one responsible for damage. It
is easy to expand the system. The company must fulfil a list of HASAP
requirements, which make the need of new security system justified thanks to the
visual docu-mentation that Milestone System can provide.
The Solution
Imlek originally had several older installations with analogue cameras and DVR’s. In
addition, there was a larger video management system (VMS) installation, but not
based on the open platform technology. This lead to problems with reliability and
support. The Milestone solution was chosen for the expansion possibilities, ease of
management, ability to integrate alarms, audio and other expansions. Also, the
7000+ devices supported by Milestone was important to Imlek as it allows the
customers to choose the perfect devices themselves. The main installation has
three servers running on Milestone XProtect Professional software.
Dairy giant chooses the Milestone Solution
The first Milestone installation was implemented two years ago. Imlek is planning
to expand the Milestone solutions to all its facilities. The previous main security
system consisted of DVRs with no VMS and one installation with an older closed
VMS. After the installation of Milestone’s software, the security services have
excellent quality software and support. In cases of alarm the system is very useful
for situa-tional overview, since it provides with the relevant information. The ease
of use is also very important to Imlek. The regular operations can be implemented
easily, making it fast to find the necessary recordings. The loss related incidents
have been reduced since the adaption of Milestone’s system for security and
production control. It has also significantly lowered the number of accidents
caused by forklift drivers within the storage area. Milestone’s platform has proved
to be an invalu-able tool for Imlek not only for control and safety. It also provides
great opportuni-ties for staff trainings and different educational activities for the
employees.
Installation by BCS Professional
The security system was implemented in a partnership with BCS Professional. The
company was established in 1996 in Belgrade, Serbia, and has experience in IT for
more than 40 years. BCS made a detailed implementation plan with Imlek’s team.
The video security system has been additionally integrated with access control
RFID, which allows to take snapshots of people who use the access control. The
new system is used for security and trainings, safety and production monitoring.
