Doing so deactivates the existing license, so we can plan this for a suitable date and time in the near future, or we can request that Milestone allow you to administer your license yourself. Most notably, the latest Milestone XProtect version (2022 R3) drops support for Windows Server 2012, and SQL Server 2012. Additionally, Intel-based hardware acceleration on Recording Servers now requires a 6th-generation Intel CPU or newer. Backing up the configuration database should be done before upgrading, and there are two ways to do it. Both ways should be done: Backing up via the Management Client can be done with the “Configuration Backup” feature. This is documented here: https://doc.milestonesys.com/latest/en-US/standard_features/sf_mc/sf_maintenance/mc_backingupandrestoring.htm. Back up the configuration using SQL Server Management Studio. (This is a more comprehensive backup.) Milestone Systems is retiring XProtect Express and XProtect Professional in order “to increase focus on solutions primed for the future.” There will be a final release and final device pack in June 2019 for 2019-R2, after which both Express and Professional (E-code) solutions will be put into a five-year “Maintenance Mode.” The E-code products will be fully terminated in June 2024. – Most new devices will still be compatible with ONVIF drivers. – The E-Code products are available for new sale until June 2022 and for expansion until June 2024. – The E-Code products remain safe and well-functioning. Case Study–Cannabis Grow House In 2017, a Los Angeles County-based grow house, which will go unnamed for security and privacy reasons, contacted us to design and install a security camera system. One of the partners had a copy of his local security requirements for operating the facility, and so we scheduled a free site inspection to survey the property. During the site inspection, we notated the general layout of the facility, noted potential security risks, and recommended cameras and placement that would accommodate the project’s budget while meeting or exceeding the minimum security requirements from the state of CA and City of Los Angeles. On the day of the site inspection, their security consisted of a non-security guard camped out in a trailer on a gated driveway, three dogs, consumer-grade doors and locks, and an intrusion alarm system. The various areas requiring coverage included the entrance, exits, hallways, a large laboratory-style room with expensive lab equipment, several temperature and light-controlled grow rooms, a network/security room with MDF closet where the recorder was to be installed, multiple hallways leading to each of these rooms, and rooftop coverage because of the easy access from a neighboring building. You can use the Phantom 3 Advanced with the HDMI output module connected to the TBS 2216 HDMI encoder (better encoders available) with the universal driver in Milestone to record live video. In addition, you can the Inspire 1 with the light bridge wireless with an HDMI out that goes into an HDMI encoder and it is recorded into Milestone XProtect with the universal driver. The two above installations were hardwired into a POE switch directly connected to a recorder. You can also use a wireless bridge connected to a cellular connection.
